1 lemon, peeled
1 cup water
1/2 grapefruit + the pith (that’s the white layer between the outer peel and the flesh of the fruit – you can scoop it with a spoon)
1/2 cup watermelon
1/4 avocado
1/2 cucumber
Optional: a dash of cinnamon
Optional: birch xylitol or pure stevia, if you need more sweetness

MOOD-ELEVATING SMOOTHIE BOOST:

1 cup arugula

Arugula is a potent source of micronutrients. These leafy greens are rich in many vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that reduce inflammation and encourage detoxification, such as vitamins C, A, and E and the B vitamins; calcium, potassium, magnesium; a wide variety of anti-inflammatory flavonoids and carotenoids; and omega-3 fatty acids. The isothiocyanates in kale have demonstrated cellular detoxification action. Pop them into your Mood-Boosting Smoothie for anti-inflammatory boost.

DIRECTIONS

Dry-blend the nuts. Add the lemon, water, ice, pink grapefruit + pith, watermelon, cucumber, and avocado. If you’re adding the Mood-Elevating Smoothie Boost, also add the arugula. Blend all the ingredients until smooth. If you need more flavor, you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon and/or a few drops of pure stevia or birch xylitol to taste.
