Chocolate Slow-Cooker Oatmeal
Phase 1 and 3 | Makes about 4 cups
Prep time: 5 minutes | Total time: 6 to 7 hours
Ingredients
4 1/2 cups water
1 cup steel-cut oats
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
1 tsp. vanilla
6 packets stevia, or to taste
Directions
- Combine the water and oats in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for 6 to 7 hours. (If your slow cooker switches to “warm” after it’s finished, that’s fine — the oatmeal can sit in there for an hour or two.)
- When you’re ready to serve, stir in the cacao, vanilla, and stevia. You can dress up this basic chocolate oatmeal — here are a few variations:
- Berries and Cream: Stir in a splash of rice milk and top with fresh berries.
- Mexican Hot Chocolate: Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Phase 3 add-ins: Try coconut milk, shredded coconut, almonds, or cacao nibs. 1/2 cup is the serving on Phase 3 (Serves about 8)
