Broiled Sirloin Steak
The magic of Phase 2 is that it combines high protein with a huge amount of green vegetables, and green veggies are alkalizing. The large volume of vegetables during Phase 2 is crucial in preventing the body from going into this unwanted state of acidity. These veggies also stimulate digestive enzymes that increase the rate of fat burn, like kindling for your fire!
Phase 2 | Serves 4
Prep time: 10 minutes | Total time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 pound beef top sirloin steak, about 1 inch thick
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
Mesclun greens, to serve
Chopped fresh parsley, to serve
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients; rub over both sides of the steak.
- Broil 4 inches from the heat for 4 minutes. Turn the steak; top with the mushrooms. Broil 4 minutes longer or until the meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 130°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 155°) and the mushrooms are tender. Let the steak rest for 10 minutes. Slice and serve with mesclun and chopped fresh parsley.
