Jennifer Lopez's nutritionist, Haylie Pomroy, gives you the low down on how the 44-year-old bombshell keeps her sexy figure. The number one most important rule: learn how to speed up your metabolism. Pomroy, author of Fast Metabolism Diet, shows you how.

1. Eat, eat, eat — then eat again.
OK, maybe you can't just eat cupcakes all day, but the best way to speed up your metabolism — which will help you burn fat a lot faster —is to eat at least five times a day. Have three meals — one for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner — and two snacks, one in between breakfast and lunch and the other in between lunch and dinner. These should be spaced out so you eat every two to four hours (except when you're sleeping) and within 30 minutes of waking up in the morning. Some great snacks include kale chips and turkey bacon chips with salsa.

2. Cut down on the Café Bustelo.
"This is the hardest tip for most of my clients," Pomroy says. "Many people know that coffee is a stimulant, but what they don't understand is that this stimulant puts your body into a stressful state." At the end of the day, your metabolism will suffer, and you will find it increasingly difficult to shed weight. Limit the amount of caffeine you consume daily.

3. Stay away from these metabolism killers:
Granola, salad dressing, canned soup, peanut butter, raisins, and flavored oatmeal are not great for keeping your metabolism up. "Granola, for example, is often seen as a healthy alternative, but the substance that makes them stick together — like maple syrup, brown rice syrup, honey, or molasses — will cause your blood sugar to spike," Pomroy warns. High blood sugar can cause metabolic syndrome — which affects the way your body stores and uses energy — and can lead to heart disease and stroke.

4. Eat a variety of foods.
"By changing the types of foods you eat throughout the week, you're giving your metabolism a cross-training-like workout," Pomroy says. Make sure you're consuming a variety of fruit, veggies, proteins, and healthy fats and oils throughout the week. For breakfast, try something like cinnamon peaches on toast or a Spanish egg white scramble. For lunch, try turkey meatloaf or sweet sausage and cabbage stew. For dinner, a great meal can be a turkey burger with sweet potatoes on the side, or a steak fajita wrap.

5. Plan your meals ahead of time.
Plan your meals and snacks for the week and purchase it all at once. This way, you're making a commitment and won't have the excuse of being too busy throughout the week. There's a number of apps out there, like Pomroy's Fast Metabolism Diet app, that help you plan meals, track your water intake, make a grocery list, and make sure you're eating a variety of healthy foods.
