Salsa Recipe - Cooking With Haylie

Follow along with me as I make my fast metabolism fermented salsa recipe! This salsa is one of my favorite fast metabolism snacks, it is delicious and very easy to make. You can keep it readily available in your kitchen and add it to a variety of meals to improve your gut health!

The most essential part of this recipe is the fermentation process and I'll tell you why! This process promotes probiotics and prebiotics to culture in your food, both of which are essential to your keeping your gut biome healthy. Fermented food is also good for your health because it helps with digestion and inflammation. You can use this salsa anytime during phase 1 or phase 3 of the fast metabolism diet. Believe it or not, fermented salsa is truly a powerful medicine!

3 pounds tomatoes, chopped
1 red onion, chopped
2 jalapeño peppers, minced

4 garlic cloves, minced
Juice of 2 limes
1 1/2 tablespoons sea salt
2 teaspoons ground cumin

Directions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Transfer to clean glass jars (leave some room at the top) and screw the lids on tightly.
  3. Leave the salsa on the counter for 2 to 3 days, and then refrigerate. The flavor will continue to intensify in the fridge.
