Try These “Random Acts of Health” This Week
The holidays are a time of reflection and gratitude for family, friends and of course, health. So this week, let’s be thankful not only for the health we have, but the health we have in our power to attain. So wherever you are, try incorporating some of these random acts of health into your week — for yourself, or for others! Let’s take a look.
10 Little Things That Make A Healthy Difference
1. Keep your water glass full
Drinking lots of plain spring water — not soda, coffee, tea, alcohol or sports drinks — is one of the best things you can do for your body. Water keeps your cells hydrated properly, aids digestion, flushes toxins and keeps your energy up. Aim to drink half your body weight, in ounces, each day.
2. Be happy
By that, I mean relax. Stress is a metabolism killer. So don’t worry if the pie doesn’t turn out exactly right, or if cousin so-and-so is running late.
3. Get some fresh air
It’s tempting to watch television all day with a plate of leftovers, but how about rounding up the kids and heading outside? Or taking the dog for a long walk?
4. Clear your head
It can be hard to find a little time to yourself, with the rush of guests and relatives, plus travel, cooking and eating. Even if it’s just a few minutes, take some deep breaths. Do a little stretching, or take a hot bath. Relaxation calms your head and body, and helps decrease cortisol.
5. Try a new fruit or veggie
Expand your horizons and try something new — or try something you thought you didn’t like. Eating a wide variety of foods keeps your body pumped with the micronutrients it needs.
6. Don’t sweat it
Did you eat an extra slice of pie? Sneak a few forkfuls of mashed potatoes? Don’t beat yourself up about it. Guilt is more fattening than pork rinds — because it increases stress. There’s always tomorrow to be perfect!
7. Brush your hair, your teeth and… your body
Have you tried dry skin brushing? It’s a wonderful way to activate the lymphatic system and move toxins through your body. Here’s how to do it.
8. Share a meal

9. Keep eating
Before big meals, our tendency is to starve ourselves. But fasting is terrible for your metabolism. Your body will better handle a big meal if you’ve been eating healthfully throughout the day.
10. Remember the Fast Metabolism Lifestyle is here for you
We’ve got your back! If you fall off the wagon, the wagon will still be there. Dust yourself off and get back to a healthy lifestyle that’s great for your body and mind.
