Weight Gain, Bloating and Inflammation is Science... Not a Mystery

Do You Need to Cleanse?

  • Do you have a coated tongue and/or bad breath?
  • Have you hit a plateau or is your weight-loss is slowing?
  • Do you have allergies or congested sinuses?
  • Do you have increased belly or visceral fat?
  • Do you experience sugar, caffeine or salt cravings?
  • Do you have belly bloat (can you suck in your tummy)?
  • Is there an odor when sweating, stinky feet, etc?
  • Any tiny bumps or rashes on the backs of your arms?
  • Have you developed a chemical sensitivity or smell sensitivity?
  • Are you feeling tired and/or wired no matter what you do?
These are just a FEW of the top signs that your body could either use or is begging for a cleanse, based on the severity of your answers.

For My At-Home Scientists: The Keys to Detox

The human body is a complicated system of organs, constantly relying on one another to keep the machine working, and sophisticated enough to confuse even the most avid at-home scientist. As far as I’m concerned, when we discuss detoxing, there are four organs we need to be concerned with, so let’s geek out together and talk about the magnificent four.
The Liver
Being the powerhouse of chemical detox, it seems natural this is where we’d start. Your liver is hands down essential to keeping all the other organs, glands and hormones on track. More than 600 metabolic functions happen by way of the liver, and every nutrient, hormone, and chemical must be activated by the liver. The liver breaks down fats (thanks to the bile it creates) and breaks down hormones so they can be utilized by the body. Your liver also produces carnitine, which "carries" fat around. The more efficiently you produce carnitine, the more efficient your metabolism. Simply put, without being good to your liver, your metabolism falls apart. If we want to detox efficiently, we must feed the liver.
Here's the bad news... The deck is stacked against you! **
"Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), relatively unknown just 2 decades ago, are now the most common causes of chronic liver disease worldwide, affecting an estimated 25% of the world's population." Now imagine how much it's affecting you if you are living in the USA. If you are to succeed in getting your health on track, you MUST get your liver functioning properly.
The Kidneys
Your kidneys are so important, you were made with two of them! The kidneys are the bean-shaped, self-cleansing system of our miraculous body. They are responsible for removing waste (think food, alcohol, and medication), balancing the blood, keeping your blood pressure in check, and aiding in the production of Vitamin D. Even if you’re particularly good to your body, nurturing your kidneys, while they do heavy lifting in the detox department, can prevent renal infection kidney stones, up your immunity (who wants to be sick?) and reduce inflammation... and SO much more!
The Pancreas
Our bodies are sophisticated and delicate systems of organs, each one relying on the other. However, without the pancreas bringing its A-game, the rest of your body might as well be for show. This most important organ produces enzymes (digestive juices) that allow us to digest everything put into the body, break down carbs, proteins, and fats, and make insulin to regulate sugar in the blood. When toxins are overloaded in the body, we are weighed down and unable to utilize nutrients properly. In serious cases, a diseased pancreas can be the cause of diabetes and many other debilitating conditions. Nourish and aid the pancreas as much as possible, and it's just science, your health will likely improve.
The Skin
It still surprises some of us that the skin is an organ – in fact, it's the body’s largest organ, made up of water, protein, fat,
minerals and hormones. The skin is not only a major barrier keeping toxins out, but it is an efficient pathway to get rid of toxins! It regulates body temperature, protects your vital inside parts (bones, muscles, ligaments, and organs) from harmful bacteria and elements from the environment, produces Vitamin D, insulates the body and allows us to sense the world around us via a massive network of nerve endings. Your skin is constantly changing and adapting to the environment it is exposed to. Is it dry, thin, sagging, or have dark spots? These are not just signs of age, they are all signs it needs to be nourished to improve its functions. Ironically, the regulations around topical items applied directly to your largest organ of absorption are lax at best, and in some cases, are just negligent.

How To Be Outrageously Healthy in 2020!

The new year is an exciting and ideal time to set goals and create healthy habits to achieve those goals! It’s a fresh start, and a chance to hit the ground running. It’s time for a new, healthier you!

One important note, however, is that MOST people will fail their new year's resolution and give up by the second week in January! For this reason alone, we want to encourage you NOT to set a new year's resolution around weight loss. Instead, decide to enjoy yourself this new year and to start a new lifestyle with support, love, and guidance.
