Jicama Fries, Video

Join me in the kitchen today as I show you how to make one of my favorite recipes, Cinnamon Jicama Fries with Raspberry Dipping Sauce! They are so easy to make and are a great way to put nutrition in your kitchen!

French fries are one of the little pleasures in life. White potatoes are not on the approved food list for the Fast Metabolism Diet, but thankfully Jicama is! Jicama looks a little bit like a giant, brown-skinned turnip—but this Central American root vegetable packs a crisp, apple-like texture inside that plain-looking skin. That juicy, slightly sweet crunch is a great addition to meals for any phase, but it’s particularly welcome during Phase 2 of the Fast Metabolism Diet.

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 medium jicama, peeled and cut into fry shapes
1 pint raspberries
Juice of 1/2 lime

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Put the cinnamon in a gallon-size zip-top bag. Add the jicama, seal, and shake to coat. Put the jicama fries on the baking sheet, spread out so they aren't touching. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the fries look crispy.

  3. Meanwhile, puree the raspberries and lime juice in a blender, then warm the puree in a small saucepan over low heat.

  4. Serve the hot fries with the raspberry dipping sauce.
