7 Things to Know About Losing Weight
I am a problem solver and a body detective. I specialize in healing and sculpting bodies with food. I teach people how to apply food in strategic and exact ways in order to achieve highly specific results from their bodies. If you’re new to The Fast Metabolism Diet or The Burn, here are 7 things to know about losing weight quickly and keeping it off permanently:
1. You must eat.
The right way to lose weight quickly is by strategically using foods rich in micronutrients that enhance your rate of burn or your metabolism, which is your body’s ability to burn through food and fat and convert it to fuel.
Losing weight fast by starving yourself is not only a recipe for disaster and future rapid weight gain, but also a very unhealthy venture as it causes the body to secrete stress hormones and adapt to the crisis of starvation.
2. Losing weight is not about calories in and calories out.
Never ever focus on calories when attempting to lose weight quickly. What matters instead of calories is how the body burns or distributes the food once eaten. Focus on the nutrient density of your food and rotating the types of food that you eat every 2-3 days.
3. You can maintain weight that was lost quickly.
Some of my clients lose up to 20 pounds in 28 days. Five to six pounds per week is typically on the high end of rapid weight loss when done strategically and with only the healthiest foods possible. These kind of numbers can not only be achieved but maintained for life-long health benefits.
4. Water is crucial for weight loss.
It’s also important to always drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water. As you lose fat, you detoxify fat-soluble toxins so dilution is the solution for pollution. This means water is critical to helping you flush those toxins out of your body.
5. Spot loss IS possible.
The diet industry will have you believe that spot loss can’t be done. But I have seen it happen time and time again in my clinic. If you can gain weight in one area you can also lose weight in one area. Not only IS it possible, but it’s easy with the right tools and food.
6. Quick weight loss helps maintain motivation.
The upside of losing weight quickly is that you’ll stay motivated. Our bodies have a tendency to build muscle efficiently when it’s fed foods that are micronutrient-dense. These foods will give your body a more taut appearance and you’ll have less saggy skin. Not only will you be feeling great, you’ll be looking great too.
7. You have to change your emotional connection to food.
The biggest downside that I tell my clients to be mindful of in losing weight quickly is that they must change their emotional connection to food. Often those who experience rapid weight loss are taken aback by the changes in their bodies. When you have a healthy relationship with food you don’t see it as something that can negatively impact your body. Instead you understand that food is medicine and is there to nurture and support the body.
Losing weight can be rewarding and inspiring, but life-saving as well. When done with real, whole foods, it’s also possible to resolve many, if not most, chronic physical issues.
